Discipleship Opportunities
No matter where you are in your faith journey, Messiah is dedicated to creating an environment where you can not only grow, but thrive as a disciple of God. We have our Discipling Hour at 9:45, but there are many great opportunities that happen during the week. Our summer activities begin the first week of June and end the last week of August. Our Fall/Spring Sunday school begins the week after Labor Day. We also have other discipleship opportunities with our Piecemakers Quilting Group, Women of the ELCA circles, Christ Care small group ministry, youth discipling ministries, Men’s Bible study, and many others. Many of these opportunities are listed below, but for any other questions, call our church office at 881-2192.
Fall/Spring Toddler Sunday School (Ages 2 & 3 years)
During these developmental years, we hope to share lessons of kindness, how to listen to stories, how to come to the circle to sing and praise, and how to fold one’s hands in prayer. With caring teachers, students and leaders learn the simple truths of God’s word and love.
Fall/Spring Elementary Sunday School (Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 5)
Eagerness to learn and a curious spirit are two of the many great qualities these ages have to offer. These classes meet upstairs at 9:15 during the school year. Teachers support learning the Lord’s Prayer, the parts of the Bible, many of the major characters of the Bible, how to share and how to work together. Students that journey through these age groups at Messiah will learn to love coming to church and learning the joys of being a Christian.
Fall/Spring Junior High Sunday School - (Grades 6 - 8)
Our youth confirmation classes are for 6th through 8th graders every Sunday. They study both the Old and New Testament and explore church doctrine. Learning the Apostle’s Creed and different interpretations are also part of confirmation instruction.
Fall/Spring Adult Christian Education Opportunities
Earth Care: Is NOT currently meeting, check back in January 2011 for more details. Earth Care studies topics related to sustainability, the environment, and our roll as Christians to be good stewards of God’s Earth.
Small Group Opportunities
At Messiah, our ChristCare Small Group Ministry has been helping members grow as disciples of Christ since 2001.ChristCare groups provide a wonderful place to meet and get to know others who have similar interests. Most groups meet twice a month and are led by a trained and commissioned leader. Group members journey together through fellowship, Bible study, prayer and worship, and mission to transform and grow in relationship to one another and to Christ.
If you are looking for a deeper, more meaningful relationship with Christ as well as for a way to connect with others in the congregation, joining a ChristCare group may be the right decision for you.
