LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF

To offer healing and care to all in need.

Messiah's LWR Volunteers are busy year-round continually working on the projects (listed below) to share with neighbors around the world affected by natural disasters (drought, floods, earthquakes, etc,), war or conflict, or poverty and who need our help.  Each fall the quilts and kits are delivered to a LWR Warehouse, (St. Paul, MN, or New Windsor, MD) and from there are shipped to our "Neighbors in Need around the World".

MISSION QUILTS...recipients can use their quilt to shield against the cold and rain, for warm bedding, but also as simple tents, floor coverings, or a wrap to hold a baby on a mother's back, or to wrap and carry their few belongings as they travel.

PERSONAL CARE KITS...when families have to flee when their homes are destroyed or for their safety, soap and a towel provide much needed self-care when they arrive in a refugee camp or other place of safety.

BABY CARE KITS...bringing a baby into the world can be a difficult and scary thing for a mother living in poverty or in a refugee camp.  Items in this kit provide the basics to keep a baby healthy, clean and comfortable.

SCHOOL KITS...contain essential supplies to help children continue learning in the face of serious obstacles.

FABRIC KITS...provide fabric and thread for vocational training programs teaching sewing, and for newly trained tailors to launch their sewing businesses.
